Hi, my name is Liz and on September 25th I’m running a marathon. 26.2 miles, 42km, a flipping long way…. I will be running through the New Forest in Hampshire, UK, so at least I will have pretty scenery and wild ponies to spur me on. Well that and running for the children at Little John’s House of course!
When I agreed to the Marathon, back in January 2011, I had only run 10km (6 miles). I thought, rather optimistically, “42km, is just doing my 10km circuit 4 times and then another 2km. That’s not far!” As time has gone on, I’ve realised that it IS actually a rather long way and not only presents a physical challenge, but a mental one too. I’ve been writing a blog about my training, feel free to have a read. It will hopefully give you an insight into how much of a challenge this is for me. http://purelight-blog.tumblr.com
Please dig deep and donate now. No amount is too small and I, and all those at Little John’s House, really appreciate anything you can give. Oh, and if you are near New Milton in the New Forest on 25th September, come and cheer me on!
Thank you!
